Are you new? If not, list your current characters: Todd Ingram and Lord Shen

IC Information:
Name: Todd Smith
Fandom: Todd and the Book of Pure Evil
Timeline: Just after the season one finale.
Age: 16

Appearance: Todd is a scrawny teenager a little on the short side (5'8") with brown hair down to his jawline. He usually wears metal-related T-shirts and jeans with spiked wristbands. See image here.

Abilities: It is implied that he has latent powers of an apocalypse-causing variety, but until canon gives specifics he won't be using them, and of course he won't have the Book either, so at this time it'll be assumed that he has no usable supernatural abilities.

Personality: Todd is a slacker high school student who really only cares about getting high and listening to metal. He has a band, Barbarian Apocalypse, but he isn't very talented and doesn't put much effort into practicing. He isn't too big on working hard at anything, and initially only agrees to fight the evil forges ravaging his school, Crowley High, because a girl he likes wants to. He does put himself in danger for the sake of his friends a few times, even almost getting himself killed in an attempt to rescue them, though, so he isn't entirely selfish and cares when he's pushed enough.

He isn't the smartest student at Crowley High, to put it mildly. He doesn't do most of his homework and tends to zone out when "smart things" (aka math, science, chess, etc) are happening, and is pretty easily fooled and outsmarted. He demonstrates a certain level of skill when it comes to practical thinking and street smarts, however, and is often the first one to go about pointing out an obvious solution that everyone else was overthinking (mostly because he doesn't overthink anything). And, while a lot of his assumptions are correct, he tends to use them to make excuses for his own failures, too (such as when he assumed that the Book was at work due to a failed test when he fails a lot of tests as it is).

While he's protective of his friends and willing to (sometimes) go the extra mile for people he likes, he can be a jerk too and makes insensitive comments without even realizing it. His ignorance and failure to think before he speaks has caused a couple of issues with his friends group, as well as driving at least one student to use the Book (although he claims that that was his intention all along, so that he would know where the Book would strike next).

His lack of ambition comes somewhat from the fact that he views himself as a loser, and doesn't really bother with trying to improve that image. He shrugs it off and doesn't usually care too much about his social status, but when he does get a chance at popularity he lets it go to his head big time and ditches his (formerly) only friend. It's implied that he and Curtis are two of the least popular students and most people don't want anything to do with them, but after defeating the Book so many times Todd gained a certain amount of confidence and self-worth (the fact that a lot of bullies died using it helped, too).

He doesn't consider himself to be evil and actively resists the Book's attempts at corrupting him (and is very upset to find out that he is supposed to be the Pure Evil One at all), but towards most issues he has a large amount of apathy. He's seen multiple deaths of other students and teachers throughout the year and pretty much just ignores it, occasionally making a remark about how many people die at his school but without really worrying about it. His first priority is to avoid trouble and keep his friends out of trouble, but he's able to shrug off pretty much anything else, including gory deaths and zombie attacks.

In typical teenage boy fashion, he has to attempt to flirt with or impress every girl he finds attractive...and most of the time he fails quite miserably or just goes unnoticed.

History: Todd was born in Crowley Heights, a town founded by refugee Satanists as a safe haven to practice their religion in peace without discrimination. Along with them, the Book of Pure Evil, source of the most powerful dark magic in the world, was brought and lost somewhere along the line. Todd discovered the Book at school after his awful guitar playing was mocked at the battle of the bands auditions, and he used it to give himself awesome guitar skills. Unfortunately, his awesome guitar skills caused anyone who listened for too long to bleed out of every orifice and die, and he was almost seduced to the dark side. His best friend Curtis managed to get the Book away from him and burn it, but while the Book left him it was not destroyed.

Todd then teamed up with Curtis and Jenny, the girl he was crushing on whose father disappeared while investigating the Book, along with Hannah, a science enthusiast, in order to find and defeat the Book. They spent most of the school year fighting off various monsters and horrible scenarios that the Book creates when a student uses it and it inevitably backfires terribly. Todd has tried to avoid being the one to deal with Book-related problems, but his group always ends up doing it anyways.

Throughout the school year, he fought evil twin clones, raised a giant demon baby who thought Todd was his father, saved Jenny from the ghost of a student who died in a chicky race, defeated zombie rock and roll stars, and made a psychic's head explode. He was pretty busy.

He also caught the attention of a satanic secret society as well as three men of unknown origin known only as the Metal Dudes for his involvement with the Book. Various creatures summoned by the Book also attempt to seek him out and convince him to use it again and take control of it. Through a prophecy made by a student using the Book to gain the power of foresight it is revealed that Todd is supposed to be the Pure Evil One and bring about the apocalypse.

Todd isn't too enthusiastic about this news and decides to take a break from anything Book-related to ensure that the prophecy won't come true. However, when his friends are captured he ends up right back in the thick of it trying to save them. The Metal Dudes convince him to build a sword in the school's abandoned metal shop and becomes overtaken by the Book again, almost killing Curtis before remembering some advice he got to be his own person and choosing to defeat the Book once again instead.

Roleplay Sample - Log:
Todd stared blankly at his essay - or at least, the blank piece of paper that was supposed to be his essay. It was due in two (thankfully easily skippable) periods and was on the history of some guy from some place who did some important thing that Todd didn't give a damn about because it was already done so who cares, anyways? He was pretty sure that school was just an exercise in futility conditioning you to obey orders and complete senseless busywork in future jobs. He didn't think it that eloquently, or with that many big words, but that was the gist of what he thought.

Thumbing through the book he checked out, his eyes glazed over at the small print and stunning lack of pictures. Which book was this? "Physics 11". Oh. Well, that was the wrong book, but maybe something smart would be in it anyways. Did it say who invented physics? On second thought, maybe if he just took a nap right here in the library no one would notice and he'd be able to say he was sick and give the essay in the next day. Librarians only notice you if you're loud, and then all they do is go "shhh" which Todd found more annoying than talking.

'Albert Einstein invented physics', he wrote down, then erased, then wrote a little bigger and more spaced apart in order to meet the three-page requirement more easily. 'Physics help you solve problems', he wrote in a similar space wasting manner before realizing that he didn't know anything else about physics and didn't even know if those facts were true.

He heard a scream from out in the hall. Yes, oh yes, yes, yes, come on evil fucking monster. Another scream. Okay, two screams pretty much definitely meant Book business. And days with Book business often ended up being days where everyone got to leave early, or everyone ran away early in a panic, or...well whatever the reason was, the class with the essay was probably canceled as long as there was enough mayhem that everyone left, or he could drag it out into last period.

"Oh man, holy crap! There's some Book thing happening out there, that's totally my responsibility and shit!" he said, even though he was pretty sure no one was watching. If they checked the security cameras, they could totally see him claiming responsibility and tossing that essay he was totally working on aside. That's a good enough excuse, right?

He scrambled up the stairs (even though the screams were coming from this floor) and left into temporary essay-free bliss.

Roleplay Sample - Journal:
Uh, guys?

Someone used the Book. And it turned the school into this weird asylum. And people that I've never seen at school before are running around. And for some reason it also gave me a new phone...thing.

I'm pretty lost on what whoever did this was trying to do. Someone else is gonna have to figure this out.

But we get beds now! Beds! In school!

Totally psyched to take a nap. No one defeat whatever stupid monster's coming up until I'm done napping.

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Todd comes from a school where kids die on a regular basis due to evil satanic forces. He's had to do some pretty awful stuff already and is used to being trapped in a bad environment. Torture happening to him could result in a potential evil freakout (depending on what is revealed in the upcoming season) as well.
